Regulatory Authorities

A financial regulatory authority, commonly referred to as regulator, regulatory agency, or regulatory body, is a government or public organization responsible for monitoring some facet of the financial sector.

When we first compiled this list there were 121 countries with FOREX regulatory authorities either in existence, pending, planned, or under serious study. In addition, there are a number of countries with more than one regulatory authority in operation (e.g. Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy and the United States). In some countries the Central Bank also serves as the regulatory authority and in some cases, e.g., Central Bank of West Africa States, one regulatory authority covers more than one country.
